Academic Enrichments & Support

At Nativity of Our Lord School, we believe every child learns in their own unique way. To support the growth and success of all our students, we offer a range of academic and personal enrichment services designed to meet individual needs. Through dedicated specialists and programs, we provide extra support in reading, academics, and social-emotional development. Our program strives to help students build confidence, overcome challenges, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Reading Specialist:
Nativity of Our Lord provides academic support to help students build confidence and achieve success in the classroom. Our Reading Specialist works with students in grades 1st, 2nd and 3rd through small group instruction that reinforces core reading skills. Children are provided with additional reinforcement of the daily classroom reading lessons. The children meet in small groups of three to five children, 2-4 times per week depending on their grade level.
Many children benefit from additional instruction and processing time in reading. This type of program helps those that need more time or need to experience the concept in a different way. 
Our goal is to help each child grow in confidence with their reading and writing skills. Reading is an essential skill for a successful educational experience. This type of program is critical for all children who are identified by their teachers as needing reading reinforcement.

Academic Support:
Our Academic Specialists offer one-on-one, small group, and in-class support for students in 6th through 8th grades, focusing on individualized strategies to help meet learning goals across all subject areas.

Academic Enrichment:
Nativity of Our Lord offers academic enrichment opportunities in reading and math for elementary students who are ready to be challenged beyond the core curriculum. Through small group instruction and engaging activities, students are encouraged to deepen their understanding, think critically, and explore new concepts at an advanced level. This enrichment helps nurture a love of learning and supports students in reaching their full academic potential.

School Counselor Support:
Nativity School offers our students the services and support of on-site counselors. Our counselors work with many children with a variety of needs. They offer support to our students who:

• Are dealing with a family crisis
• Are in need of some coping strategies
• Are in need of social skills management
• Are in need of organization and study skills
• Are in need of someone to listen to them and to help them sort out their feeling

We are fortunate to have counseling support here at school five days a week. Our counselors have worked with our children for the past several years. In that time they have used their expertise to help our children develop the skills and strategies necessary to cope with the challenges of daily life.
Parents or Nativity staff members may recommend a student to receive counseling services at Nativity. We believe this is a wonderful benefit to assist our children as they grow emotionally, spiritually, socially and physically.
