Welcome to the beginning of your child’s elementary learning experience. The primary years, kindergarten through second grade, are a critical time in your child’s development. Each day is filled with excitement as the world of learning comes alive for our youngest students. We invite you to become actively involved in the learning process by reading each night and practicing spelling and math facts with your child.

Children at this age are eager to explore, ponder, and learn! Our kindergarten program helps students feel loved and an integral part of our school community.
We have an exciting, well-rounded curriculum that incorporates:- Thematic units
- Learning centers
- Specialists (Music, STEAM, Phy. Ed, Library)
- Self directed play
Our Kindergarten program is aligned with national and state standards providing a solid foundation for each child’s future education
Our religion curriculum teaches children about the Catholic faith through stories, activities, service projects and prayer. Our goal is for the children to grow in their love of Jesus.
These experiences promote the social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of the individual child.

Welcome to the World of Reading! First grade is a year filled with many new challenges. Our goal is for each student to develop written and oral language skills and to become problem solvers who can look at our world critically.

In first grade we encourage our students' academic and spiritual development. Students learn that God, Our Creator, made each person special and that Jesus, the Son of God, is our friend.
The students are taught Reading through a phonetic approach. Our goal is for each child to develop a life long love of reading by experiencing all genres of literature.
In Mathematics the students explore number concepts, problem solving strategies, telling time, identifying/counting money, and the math facts 0-18.
Task completion and the development of independent work habits are stressed across the curriculum.
Some of the highlights of the year include: our Christmas paraliturgy, as well as units on space, whales, magnets, and balance and motion.

Second grade is a very special year. The students come to a greater knowledge of themselves and their relationship with God through the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.

One of our goals is to instill an enthusiasm for reading. This is accomplished by escalating student reading levels through the continuous development of phonics, extensive exposure to literature, and creative writing. Each student will have the opportunity to develop their imagination and writing skills through stories, journals, and poetry.
A hands-on approach is used to introduce new math concepts in second grade. The traditional math curriculum is balanced with an emphasis on different problem solving strategies. The students experience a global perspective as they take an imaginary trip around the world.
Second graders develop their scientific skills through units on matter, weather, and animal life.
Second grade begins the transition of becoming more responsible learners. This is achieved through weekly homework assignments, more independent classroom work, and growth in self-discipline. Second grade is a well-rounded year filled with many opportunities.
