Volunteer at Nativity School
We are truly blessed by the many gifts and talents within our Nativity community. It takes all of us working together to make the Nativity experience the very best it can be! Below you’ll find updated volunteer information. Each school family is asked to contribute 10 hours of volunteer service during the 2025–2026 school year, in addition to volunteering at the Nativity County Fair. Thank you in advance for sharing your time, energy, and talents with our community!
Breakfast: Volunteers are needed to help serve and monitor students for our breakfast program for 30 minutes. Shift is from 7:40 AM - 8:10 AM. Must have completed Virtus requirements.
Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair is one of the favorite events of the year for our students! Volunteers are needed to set up or take down the book fair, run the registers and re-shelve materials throughout the fair. There are opportunities for school day, evening and weekend shifts.
Field Day Volunteers: Assist with Field Day games and activities for Kindergarten thru 3rd graders. There are two shifts (2 hours each) available for the day. The 2nd and 3rd grade activities will be the morning shift; Kinders and 1st graders activities will be the afternoon shift. This is a school day volunteer opportunity and you must meet Virtus requirements.
Graduation Reception: Assist with set-up, serving refreshments, and clean-up for 8th grade Graduation Reception in the school Auditorium. This is an evening volunteer opportunity.
Grandparent Mass Reception: Assist with set-up, serving cake and lemonade, and clean-up at the reception following the annual 3rd Grade Grandparent Mass. This is a school day volunteer opportunity that usually takes place in November.
Holy Rosary Drivers: Nativity conducts an annual Christmas gift drive to support families in Holy Rosary/St. Stephens Parish in Minneapolis. Drivers are needed to transport the donations and help Student Council members deliver the contributions to the parish. MUST BE VIRTUS COMPLIANT. Adult volunteers must have completed the Essential 3 through your Virtus account.
Hot Lunch: Volunteers are needed to help serve lunch each day to our Kindergarten-4th grade classes. This is a great way to see your kids during the day, and to meet other parents, or grab some friends and work a shift together! Grandparents and other family members are welcome to serve too. Younger children are not allowed in the kitchen, and child care is not available. Volunteers are required to wear a hat, or one will be provided. The serving shifts are: Monday through Friday 11:30 AM - 12:30 AM.
Kinder Kamp Used Uniform Sales: Volunteers needed to assist our Home and School (HandS) organization with organizing and selling pre-worn school uniforms in June from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM, while the incoming Kindergarteners attend their Kinder Kamp.
Kinder Round-Up: Volunteers are needed to bring their joy and positivity for Nativity to this exciting evening for prospective families and their soon-to-be Kinders! Volunteers will direct prospective families in the school building, and assist Kindergarten teachers in the classrooms with prospective Kinders while parents participate in an informational program. This is an evening opportunity.Marathon: 1st through 3rd Grade Parents are needed along the walking route to keep our students safe as they walk around the school block. 4th and 5th Grade Parents will be walking to Groveland Elementary. We have many busy streets and alleyways that we need to monitor. Volunteers assist with walking along the busy streets and keeping the students on the sidewalks. We need volunteers from 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM. This is a school day opportunity and you must meet Virtus requirements.
Parent Project Crew: Help with copying and collating projects, removing and putting up art projects, and other projects as needed. Check in at the school office when you arrive. Do not need to be Virtus certified for this volunteer opportunity. Every second and fourth Friday of the month from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
Playground Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to help our teachers supervise the lunchtime recess experience each day. Check your calendars and sign up for once a week, once a month, or a few times during the school year. Check in at the school office. The shift is from 12:10 AM - 1:00 PM every Monday through Friday. MUST BE VIRTUS COMPLIANT. Adult volunteers must have completed the Essential 3 through your Virtus account.
School Play: Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks, including set design and building, costumes and makeup, hallway monitoring, ticket and concession sales, and more. These are evening, weekend and/or school day opportunities.
